Answers to common questions about peptide and nutraceutical testing, sample submission, turnaround times, Health Canada NHP compliance, and our laboratory services.
From sample submission to turnaround times and pricing, here are the most frequently asked questions about independent peptide and nutraceutical testing at Cert Biohealth Testing Labs.
Cert Biohealth Testing Labs is an independent Canadian analytical laboratory based in Toronto, Ontario, specializing in peptide and nutraceutical testing services. We provide HPLC purity analysis, mass spectrometry identity confirmation, endotoxin testing, heavy metal screening, residual solvent analysis, stability studies, and custom analytical services for compounding pharmacies, research laboratories, and peptide suppliers across Canada.
Our laboratory is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We accept mail-in samples from anywhere in Canada and internationally. All testing is performed in our Toronto facility — samples are never forwarded to an external laboratory.
We operate under a documented Quality Management System aligned with ISO 17025 principles and ICH analytical guidelines. Contact us at info@certbiohealth.ca for our current accreditation status and quality system documentation relevant to your application.
No. The majority of our clients are outside Toronto. We accept mail-in samples from anywhere in Canada. Simply request a quote, receive your requisition number, and ship your samples to our Toronto address. Results are delivered electronically.
Start by contacting us at info@certbiohealth.ca or via our contact form with your peptide name, testing requirements, and quantity. We will respond within 1 business day with pricing and a requisition number. Then ship your samples to our Toronto address. Full details are on our How to Submit Samples page.
Requirements vary by test: HPLC purity requires 100–500 µg, mass spectrometry identity requires 0.5–2 mg, endotoxin testing requires 1–5 mg, and heavy metal testing requires 5–10 mg. For combined panels, we recommend 5–20 mg total. Contact us if your quantity is limited.
Lyophilized peptides are generally stable for 1–3 days of transit at ambient temperature. For sensitive peptides or aqueous solutions, ship with a cold pack. Do not ship on dry ice without contacting us first.
Yes. International samples are accepted. Contact us before shipping for the correct customs documentation. Samples from the US can typically be shipped as “analytical testing samples, no commercial value.”
Standard turnaround is 9–11 business days from the date of sample receipt. Rush 2–3 business day service is available for HPLC purity and ESI-MS analysis at an additional fee. Endotoxin testing standard turnaround is 5–7 business days.
Your Certificate of Analysis is delivered as a signed, watermarked PDF to the email address on your requisition form. We do not share results with any third party without your explicit written consent.
Our COAs include: test name and method reference, instrument data and raw outputs (chromatograms, mass spectra), calculated results with units, acceptance specifications (where applicable), pass/fail determination, analyst name and signature, report date, and our laboratory contact information.
Our methods follow ICH Q2(R1) for analytical method validation, USP <85> for bacterial endotoxins, USP <232>/<233> for elemental impurities, ICH Q3C/USP <467> for residual solvents, and ICH Q1A(R2) for stability studies. Methods reference Ph.Eur. equivalents where applicable.
Yes. We test peptides beyond our standard 85+ library and can develop custom methods for novel sequences, modifications, or complex matrices. Contact us with your peptide sequence and testing requirements.
HPLC purity quantifies the percentage of your target peptide relative to all other material in the sample. Mass spectrometry identity confirms that the molecular weight and structure of the main peak match the expected peptide sequence. Both are recommended together for complete quality characterization.
We test a broad range of dietary supplements and natural health products including vitamins and minerals (D3, B-complex, magnesium, zinc), amino acids (creatine, glutamine, NAC), botanicals and herbal extracts (ashwagandha, berberine, curcumin), collagen peptides and protein powders, omega fatty acids, pre-workout and sports nutrition products, probiotics (excipient testing), and NHP-licensed finished products. Contact us if your product category isn't listed.
Yes. We provide testing documentation aligned with Health Canada's Natural Health Products Regulations. This includes identity testing, potency/label claim verification, heavy metal testing per Health Canada limits, microbial testing, and stability data for NHP licence applications (NPN/DIN-HM). Our COAs reference applicable methods and can be submitted as supporting documentation.
Both. We test raw materials (bulk ingredient lots before manufacturing), in-process samples, and finished products (capsules, tablets, powders, liquids). For finished products we can account for the matrix — excipients, coatings, and fillers — using appropriate extraction and preparation methods.
Yes. Label claim verification (potency testing) is one of our most common requests for supplement clients. We use HPLC or LC-MS/MS to quantify the active ingredient and compare it against the declared amount on your label. This is required for NHP licence applications and is best practice for third-party quality assurance before a product launch.
Standard pricing: HPLC purity CAD $175–$350, ESI-MS identity CAD $150–$300, endotoxin (LAL) CAD $125–$225, ICP-MS heavy metals CAD $175–$325, full contaminant panel CAD $275–$450. Volume discounts apply for 5+ samples. Contact us for a formal quote.
Yes. Clients submitting 5 or more samples in a single order receive discounted pricing. Monthly retainer programs with guaranteed turnaround are available for high-volume clients (pharmacies, suppliers). Contact us to discuss your volume requirements.
We accept credit card, e-transfer, and corporate invoice (net 30) for approved accounts. Payment is due prior to sample analysis for new clients. Contact us at info@certbiohealth.ca to set up an account.
Our analytical team is happy to discuss your specific testing requirements.
